Nationally acclaimed poet Willie Perdomo visited Pingree on Tuesday, May 23, to sit in on classes and lead an open poetry writing workshop for students and faculty. Perdomo is the author of The Essential Hits of Shorty Bon Bon (Penguin Poets), Smoking Lovely (Rattapallax), and Where a Nickel Costs a Dime (Norton). His work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Norton Anthology of Latino Literature, Bomb Magazine, and African Voices. His work has earned him the International Latino Book Award and the PEN/Beyond Margins Award. He was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Milton Kesler Poetry Award, and the Poetry Society of America Norma Farber First Book Award. He is a Pushcart nominee, two-time New York Foundation for the Arts Poetry Fellow, and a former Woolrich Fellow in Creative Writing at Columbia University.
