Welcoming New Staff and Faculty

As we usher in the commencement of a brand-new academic year, it is with immense enthusiasm and great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to the latest additions to our esteemed campus community. Joining us this year are eleven distinguished faculty and staff members, each bringing unique skills, perspectives, and a wealth of knowledge that will undoubtedly contribute to the further enhancement of our institution's academic and cultural landscape. We eagerly anticipate the fresh insights and innovative approaches they will impart, enriching the educational experience for all.

Kerlyn Caba joins the Language Department as a Spanish Fellow. Kerlyn recently graduated from St. Lawrence University, where she worked as a teaching assistant in the World Languages,Cultures, and Media Department. Kerlyn was also a Spanish tutor in the Language Resource Center at St. Lawrence. Kerlyn is a Taekwondo certified instructor; she will coach volleyball atPingree.

 

Matthew Chagnon joins the Athletics Department as Interim Athletics Operations & Auxiliary Coordinator (parental leave coverage). Matthew is familiar with the Pingree community as he held a similar role here last spring. Matthew earned his bachelor’s degree from Endicott College and is currently enrolled in the Master of Science: Sport Leadership program at Endicott. His experience includes an athletic internship and coaching baseball at St. John’s Preparatory School. He has also held athletic internships with Amherst College Athletics and the Worcester
Railers HC. Matthew works in Event Operations for the Boston Red Sox.

Christian Gal joins the English Department as a Parental Leave Coverage English Teacher this fall. Christian is familiar with the Pingree community as he recently provided similar coverage. Christian received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and his master’s degree from Brown University. His experience includes teaching English and French at the Bancroft School. He also served as the Associate Director of Admission and Director of International Admission
at Bancroft. Christian worked as a Language and Thinking Instructor at Bard College, and also served as the Associate Director of the International School of Geneva.
 

Jen Henriquez joins the Communications Department as an Interim Communications Consultant, a leave coverage position until October. Jennifer earned her bachelor’s degree from Bard College and her master’s degree from Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications. Her work experience includes serving as the communications director for the
non-profit organizations Education for All Children and Pajama Program. She also worked as the director of communications for Green Ivy Schools, and as a marketing and communications officer for the International School of Brooklyn.

Alexandra Leff joins the English Department as an English Teacher. Alexandra earned her bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and her master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University. She joins us from Gould Academy, where she was a faculty member in the English Department, and also served as an Interim Assistant Dean of Students and an Academic Skills Program Instructor. Alexandra’s experience also includes teaching at Greenwich Academy.
Alexandra will coach soccer and lead yoga as a certified instructor.
 

Michael McClellan joins the Communications Department as the Creative Content Manager. Michael comes to us from Williamsburg Northside School, where he was the Director of Media and Marketing. His work experience includes web development and social media marketing for Western Heritage in Arizona, and private photography and videography work. Additionally,Michael was an interpretive guide for Pink Jeep Adventures and worked as a firefighter in Clarkdale, Arizona. He is completing his bachelor’s degree at Arizona State University.
 

Amy Sampson joins the English Department as the Writing Center Director and English Teacher. Amy earned her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and master’s degrees from Harvard University Graduate School of Education and Notre Dame of Maryland University. Amy comes to us from Baltimore City College High School, where she held the position of English Department Head and English Teacher. She previously served as the Writing Center Co-Director at that school. Amy received a Fulbright Fellowship to conduct research in Finland.
 

Katie Shannon joins the Academic Office as the Registrar and Academic Office Coordinator. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree from Framingham State University and her master’s degree from Cambridge College. Katie joins us from Cambridge College, where she recently held the position of Assistant Director of System Operations. She also held the roles of Interim Assistant Director of Admissions and Student Navigation Manager of Enrollment at Cambridge College

Caroline “Carey” Shugrue will be the new Head Coach of the Varsity Girls Ice Hockey team. Carey is the Founder, Director and Head Coach of the Masco Lady Chieftains. She previously served as a Head Coach for Masconomet Youth Hockey and was the Varsity Assistant Coach at Masconomet High School. Carey earned her bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College, where she was the captain of the women’s hockey team. She earned her master’s degree from Lesley
University.
 

Wesley Snyder joins the Math Department as a Math Fellow. Wesley’s experience includes teaching mathematics at Dexter Southfield and at Fusion Academy. Wesley received their bachelor’s degree from Clark University. While studying at Clark, Wesley served as a teaching assistant, a resident advisor, and a tutor. Wesley will coach soccer and swimming.


 

Erin VanTuyl joins the Science Department as a Biology Teacher. Erin earned her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree from Fitchburg State College. Erin’s experience includes teaching Science at Samoset Middle School (Leominster) and Shirley Middle School. She has extensive coaching experience, is a level 1 certified mountain bicycling coach and a ski and snowboarding instructor at Wachusett Mountain.

 

Changes in Titles and Responsibilities for 2023–2024

Stephen Sacchetti will serve as Math Department Chair.
Colleen Tlagae will serve as Mastery Transcript Coalition Liaison.
