Grade 9 Pingree student, Victoria Colantonio, won the prestigious Crescendo International Music Competition held at Carnegie Hall in the competition's second round on January 20, 2024
"Winning an invitation for an international student exchange program is indeed a significant achievement," Victoria remarks. "I'm incredibly excited about the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures and musical traditions."
Reflecting on her journey from her first performance at Carnegie Hall, she recalls initial apprehension but now cherishes the camaraderie shared with fellow performers. "Watching older kids play when I was younger inspired me," she confessed. "Now that I've become that person for others, I feel a sense of accomplishment and purpose."
Despite the challenges of balancing academics and musical pursuits, she remains committed to her passion, squeezing in practice sessions after rigorous swim practices.
Victoria's schedule is packed with upcoming performances and competitions, including a piano group concert followed by the exchange program where she anticipates intense competition and performance opportunities.
"While music remains a significant part of my life, I'm considering minoring in it," she revealed. "But I don't see myself pursuing it as a career unless I decide to give private lessons."
Victoria Colantonio's journey exemplifies the dedication and talent of young musicians, promising a bright future ahead.
