Students Honored in 2021 Scholastic Writing Awards

Congratulations to Aramis Negron ’21 and Mackenzie Holian ’23 for their success in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

Aramis was awarded a Silver Key for his poetry work Isla de la Orgullosa. Mackenzie was awarded a Gold Key for her journalistic work “William Jefferson Convicted of Bribery; The Proof—All $90,000 of it—Found in His Freezer,” a Silver Key for her journalistic work “Harry Styles is the First Male to Appear Solo on the Cover of Vogue—It Seems Like His Outfit Will Make More History Than Styles Himself,” and Honorable Mentions for her personal essay and memoir pieces “Love Song” and “Between The Pages.”

According to the organizers, "Students receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, Honorable Mentions, or American Voices & Visions Nominations are celebrated within their communities through local exhibitions and ceremonies. Gold Key works are then judged nationally by an impressive panel of creative–industry experts to receive National Medals, including Gold Medals, Silver Medals, American Voices & Visions Medals, Gold Medal, and Silver with Distinction Portfolio Medals, and Special Achievement Awards."
