Indiana Field Hockey goalkeeper and Pingree alumna Sadie Canelli (’24) has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for her exceptional performances during the weekend of October 25-27. The Hoosiers faced two top-10 opponents that weekend. Indiana lost a dramatic penalty shootout to No. 3 Ohio State on Friday, October 25, but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Michigan on Sunday, October 27. Canelli played a pivotal role in both contests, recording five saves against Ohio State, including five more during the shootout. She also made three crucial saves in the win over Michigan, helping the Hoosiers secure their first top-10 victory since 2016.
This marks Canelli's second Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor. She previously received the award for her performances during the weekend of October 11-13. Her consistent play has made her a standout player for the Hoosiers and a key contributor to their success this season.

As a two-sport captain and four-year varsity athlete at Pingree, she led her field hockey team to two Class B NEPSAC championships and earned NEPSAC Player of the Year honors.
