OMP: Enhancing Mental Performance

OMP: Enhancing Mental Performance

Pingree’s new initiative aims to boost mental performance among student-athletes through the implementation of the Optimize Mind Performance (OMP) platform.

This innovative tool is designed to enhance mental performance, empowering athletes to harness the power of mental skills training with content from leading sports psychologists, mental performance coaches, and professional athletes.

OMP representatives will provide training and resources to Pingree’s coaching staff, who will integrate the platform into practices, as well as to athletic administrators and coaches overseeing the process. OMP stands out in its approach to mental skills training by offering valuable insights for coaches and essential skills that athletes can utilize throughout their sporting journeys and beyond.

Pingree is one of only two high schools in the state utilizing the OMP platform, which is already in use at prestigious institutions, including Stanford and Duke University.

OMP was introduced to our athletic department by Pingree alum Nate Rawlins ’16, who has experience with similar apps but believes OMP truly stands out among the competition. The platform offers resources covering key pillars of mental performance, such as confidence and injury recovery. Additionally, the app focuses on building athletes’ mental resilience and features an Athlete Insights series, where professional athletes—including former New England Patriots captain Matthew Slater—share their experiences and strategies for overcoming mental hurdles in sports.

As the school prepares to onboard OMP, this initiative aims to differentiate Pingree from its competitors and foster a healthy, supportive environment for student-athletes. With OMP, our high school is taking a significant step forward in supporting the mental health and performance of its athletes, setting a standard for excellence in sports programs.
