Congratulations to Anabella Zullo ’26 on her swimming achievements at this summer's AAU Junior Olympic games, held in Greensboro, North Carolina! Anabella earned a bronze medal as the anchor leg of the 4x100m freestyle relay team for Team New England Swim.
In all, Anabella competed in seven events: 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle; 100m backstroke; 100m breaststroke; 200m individual medley; and lastly the 4x100m freestyle relay. She captured numerous personal records and ranked in the top third in all events all while "having a blast with the team," according to her parents, Carmen and Kelly.
As a result of Anabella's strong individual performances in Greensboro, she was chosen by the coaches to not only be a member of the 4x100m freestyle relay team for her age group but be the anchor leg. That team was seeded seventh in a field of 12. Facing off against strong teams from Florida, Oklahoma, and New York, the team collectively dropped 12.87 seconds from their seed time to finish third place and earn the bronze medal in dramatic fashion.
The long weekend of competitive swimming culminated with Team New England sweeping the Men’s, Women’s, and Overall AAU National Championship honors as a team!
Kudos once again to Anabella and all of Team New England Swim, and thank you to the Zullo family for sharing this exciting news!
