Summer Work and Reading Lists

Students are expected to complete all summer work prior to the first full day of class. Students will have required summer reading for English and history. Students may have summer work in other departments depending on their course placement in each subject.

Required Community Read
Each summer, our school community selects a book that furthers our commitment to antiracism education. This book is required reading for all students, faculty and staff. The book will be integrated into most classes and students should expect to be assessed on the book in at least one of their classes during the first few weeks of the fall term. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to read the book as well and we will be offering parent book group discussions during the 2023–2024 academic year. This year we are pleased to announce that we have selected How To Love A Country, a collection of poetry written by Richard Blanco. A copy of the book will be mailed directly to all students.
