We See You Making a Difference

At Pingree, civic engagement isn’t just something you do—it’s part of who you become. Whether you're organizing a fundraiser, running our on-campus thrift store, or working alongside a long-term community partner, you’ll learn to lead with empathy, listen first, and make a real impact—together. Grounded in trust, curiosity, and sustained partnerships, Pingree students learn to lead by listening and serve with purpose.

Civic engagement wasn't a big part of my life until I came to Pingree. Here, it's something that everyone does in this community, in their hometown, or even Massachusetts as a whole.  Since coming to Pingree, I can't even remember everything that I've been part of or that my friends have been part of.  It's become a passion of mine.Samahra S.Current Student

Civic Engagement in Action

Pingree’s Civic Engagement program helps students become thoughtful, informed, and active members of their communities. Grounded in hands-on learning and reflection, the program emphasizes real-world experience, social responsibility, and the skills needed to work toward a more just and equitable world.

Are You Going to Rosebud?

Since 2005, Pingree students and faculty have traveled each summer to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, home of the Sicangu Oyate. Rooted in nearly two decades of relationship-building, the trip blends community-centered service with cultural exchange. Students support projects identified by Rosebud leaders and are welcomed into traditions such as the Veterans Memorial Powwow and sweat lodge ceremonies. The experience challenges students to move beyond deficit-based thinking and recognize the strength, knowledge, and generosity of the Rosebud community.
