Team Overview
Since its inception in 2005, the Pingree football team has developed a strong tradition as a perennial contender in the Evergreen League. The Highlanders were NEPSAC Bowl Champions in 2009, 2010, 2019 and 2021 and were NEPSAC runners-up in 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2023.
Our offense is a multiple pro-style offense, the foundation of which is a strong running game that uses zone, power, and iso schemes. We teach our lineman to be proficient in multiple run/pass techniques that prepare them for the college level. We also utilize multiple backfield sets and a drop-back passing game from 3 and 4 wide receivers formations. Our game plan varies from week to week, based on the abilities of our skill positions and the match-up versus opposing defenses.
On defense, we run a 4-3 defense with an emphasis on group tackling and disciplined positional play. Above all, we continue to stress the importance of team play both on and off the field, which fits the philosophy honored by all of Pingree’s athletics programs. You can follow along on Twitter for updates year-round.
