Coaches
Coach: Jim MacLaughlin '84
Jim joined Pingree in 1988, and has been coaching the softball team since the 1991 season. His teams have won 5 EIL league season titles, 1 AISGA tourney title, and 4 EIL league playoff championships. Jim attended Union College, graduating in 1988, and was a member of the 1985 ECAC West championship ice hockey team. An English teacher and Tenth Grade Dean at Pingree, Jim also coaches Cross Country and Ice Hockey.
Assistant Coach: Colleen Tlagae
Colleen Tlagae has over 14 years of coaching experience, including four years of high school varsity softball. After starting to play softball at the age of 12, Coach Tlagae quickly discovered a love for the catcher position, but also played outfield and first base. She played softball throughout high school, including one season during which her team made the state playoffs, and then at Hamilton College where she continued catching. After graduating she coached at Hotchkiss for four seasons. As a coach, she enjoys sharing her love of the game as well as teaching players the skills and strategy involved in softball. Recently she has also coached her son in t-ball, but she is excited to resume her involvement at the high school level.
Assistant Coach: Ally Babula
Ally began dancing in childhood and competed across Massachusetts and New England in her adolescent years with Center Stage Dance Studio in Melrose. In addition to competing in various styles including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, pointe, modern, and contemporary, Ally danced annually in Melrose Youth Ballet's production of the Nutcracker and various summer galas. Ally is also a certified dance instructor through the Dance Teachers Club of Boston. While Ally did not go on to teach studio dance, she is extremely appreciative of the opportunity to share her passion for the art with the Pingree community. This is Ally’s second year as assistant coach and she looks forward to working with students and watching them grow in both skill and confidence in the years to come.
