From its tranquil beginnings as a horse farm and a family home to a bustling hub of activity and growth, our 100-acre campus on the North Shore of Boston has remained the site of productivity and transformation. Whether breaking through in our classrooms, dominating on the athletics fields, creating masterpieces in our studios, or breaking bread in the Dining Commons, you'll find that our campus is filled with vibrant and catalytic spaces.

Arts Facilities

Construction on Pingree’s Center for Visual and Performing Arts was completed in 2015. The state-of-the-art campus center covers two floors and houses the Mary Weld Theater (capacity: 400), ceramic and dance studios, photography labs, a theater scene shop, instrumental and choral recital rooms, a digital music lab, practice and rehearsal spaces, a recording studio, and a control booth. Each classroom is wired to a central control room with the same software and equipment used in professional recording studios.

In our digital music lab and recording studio, students use Ableton Live and Apple Logic Pro to learn how to program drum beats, use synthesizers and MIDI controllers to create chords and melodies, and use audio effects to process recordings of instruments and vocals.

Named in honor of beloved longtime ceramics teacher Liz Taft, our ceramics studio allows multiple ceramicists to work at their craft. It also features a kiln, glazing station, and a wide array of tools.

Pingree's music ensembles are open to all instrumentalists. Students have the chance to perform in a variety of contexts and musical genres based on their personal musical interests. Outside lessons can also be arranged through the Art Department during a student's free period.

While most of our students make use of our digital photography equipment and assets, we are proud to still offer a traditional darkroom for budding photographers interested in film.

Each music classroom is wired to a central control room with the same software and equipment used in professional recording studios. Students have the opportunity to share their recordings with the Pingree community.

Students have the opportunity to work with leading industry professionals on cutting-edge systems, often leading the work for assemblies, coffee houses, and other performances in the theater.

Students are always moving in the dance studio—be it lyrical, contemporary, ballet, or hip hop. No matter the genre, creative processes and improvisation will be explored and showcased.

Our school's theater is home to all theater, dance, and musical productions. It is also where the student body meets for Morning Meetings and assemblies.

Added in the winter of 2024, our raku kiln allows students to fire their finished ceramics pieces quickly and easily.

Athletics Facilities

From grass fields to the Athletics Center, the cross-country trails to the H. Alden Johnson, Jr. Arena, Pingree athletes—and youth and adult league players from across the region—have plenty of places to call their own.

Our newest athletics facility, the outdoor track around the turf field was completed in the spring of 2023.

Pingree's beautiful grass fields host everything from soccer to field hockey to lacrosse, both for Pingree School teams and for local youth sports organizations.

Pingree's gymnasium boasts two full-size basketball courts, pull-out bleachers, and spaces for home and visiting teams.

Athletics Center Meeting Room
The Athletics Center conference room is utilized by teams for meetings, film review, and end-of-the-season celebrations. It is also where our student-athletes sign their National Letters of Intent.

Our Weight Room and Fitness Center are housed in the same building as the H. Alden Johnson, Jr. Arena. Here, students, faculty, and staff alike are welcome to build strength and conditioning.

The H. Alden Johnson, Jr. Arena is home to Pingree's ice hockey teams as well as many youth and adult league teams in the area. In the offseason, the ice is removed and the surface is used for off-season training and other activities.

Academics Facilities

While Pingree started as a family home, most of our academic program takes place in the academic wing, which was completed in 2015. Here, our students work in science labs, light-filled classrooms often featuring Harkness tables and sweeping views of campus, and our Educational Resource Centers.

At Pingree, Harkness tables bring students and teachers together for dynamic, discussion-based learning, fostering critical thinking, active listening, and a shared exchange of ideas.

Community Spaces

When campus activity doesn't quite fit into the realm of academics, athletics, or arts, chances are you've found yourself in one of our community spaces. The Pond Room overlooks the Hedge Garden, home to commencement, convocation, and other celebratory events. Each grade level has lockers in one area, providing ample opportunity to check in with classmates. You'll find a new spot for community connection around every corner.

Our Hedge Garden is home to major school events like convocation, the senior tribute dinner, and commencement.

A recent addition to the exit drive from campus, the Community Learning Garden hosts events for the Pingree Parents Network and offers the opportunity to expand the curriculum to include food justice themes.

Host Your Event

From showers to weddings to retirements and more, Pingree School facilities are available to rent to the general public! Date priority is given to school functions and may be limited, particularly during the academic year.
