Pegasus Wins Silver Crown Award
Pegasus is Pingree's literary/art magazine that comes out every spring in May. Last year's staff was spectacularly talented and efficient and the 2008 magazine was entered in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's annual award competition. Nikki Starrett '08, Erika Mitkus' 08 and Emma Chandler '08, last year's editors went to New York from their respective colleges over March break to the award ceremony...the crown award, which they won, was given to 34 magazines out of 1,77l student newspaper, magazine and yearbook applicants. Crowns are either gold or silver; they won a silver crown.
Erica Mitkus writes -
I just wanted to let you know how Pegasus did in the award ceremony last weekend. Emma Chandler, Nikki Starret and myself went down to New York City for the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's 85th annual conference, where Pegasus was awarded a Silver Crown Award, which is a huge honor. Here is the website with additional information.
http://cspa.columbia.edu/docs/contests-and-critiques/crown-awards/index.html Lastly, all of us just wanted to sincerely thank you for making it possible for us to go. We had such an amazing time at the conference and hanging out together after a year away at college, and the hotel was perfect. We were all saying how happy we were that we had graduated from a school that still looked out for us, even after we had graduated. Anyways, thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the pictures...we'll be bringing in the actual plaque sometime in early May!
Sincerely,
Erika
