Learning and Serving beyond the Classroom

The need is clear for an education that places students and teachers in authentic situations that facilitate opportunities to compare and address new ideas and perspectives.  Today's students must be prepared to lead tomorrow in a multifaceted and interconnected global society.

Global Connections seeks to provide students and teachers with on-site opportunities to study, learn from, and experience people, cultures, and languages different from their own while at the same time helping to meet tangible and genuine needs in the host community.

Multicultural competence, understanding, and service outreach are required for developing the connections necessary for living and working productively in the international community of the 21st century. This global approach allows students to learn firsthand through their own experience and to appreciate another culture on its own terms.  At the same time, students can develop a sense of stewardship for the world community as a whole.
