Spring Arts Celebration TONIGHT

Please join us tonight and next week for two arts events! 

Empty Bowl and Spring Arts Celebration, Friday, May 18, beginning at 5 p.m.

Begin the evening at our Empty Bowl event -- a fundraiser to aid in the fight against hunger. Handmade ceramic bowls, created by members of the Pingree community, will be sold to raise money to buy a freezer for the Acord Food Pantry in Hamilton, then filled with a hearty soup and bread before the evening performances. Soup and bread donations provided by Crosby's Market and 15 Walnut in Hamilton, Sea Street Soups in Manchester, Piantedosi Bread, and Sodexo. Bowls will be sold for $10 each. 

5 p.m. - Empty Bowl
6:30 p.m. - Student Art Show Opening
7 p.m. - Pegasus Reading
7:30 p.m. - Dance and Theater Concert


Spring Music Concert, Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Theater

  




Save the Dates for End of Year Events  

Friday, June 8 at 5 p.m.: Academic Awards Ceremony in the Hedge Garden; Attendance is required for all students; students should arrive by 4:45 p.m. Formal attire is required; coats and ties for the boys and dresses or skirts for the girls. Parents are encouraged to attend.

Saturday, June 9 at 5 p.m.: Baccalaureate in the Hedge Garden; for seniors and their families. Grades 9-11 students and parents are welcome.

Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m.: Commencement in the Hedge Garden; all students encouraged to attend and all parents invited.

  


DVDs of End-of-Year Events Available

DVDs of the end-of-year events are available for purchase. Two recordings will be produced -- one of the Awards Ceremony ($30), and one of Baccalaureate and Graduation combined ($45). Please download the order form here, and return to Joy Foley by June 12.

Prep@Pingree Accepting Applications

Prep@Pingree, Pingree School's nationally recognized summer academic enrichment program enrolling current seventh and eighth grade students from Lawrence and Lynn, is accepting applications this year for a limited number of paying students from other communities.

The five-week program, taught by master independent and public school teachers, begins July 2 and ends August 3. Students study math, English, engineering design, and history, in addition to co-curricular topics including public speaking, application and interview skills. The students also take weekly exploratory day trips in and around Essex county.

Final Exam Schedule Now Posted

Our final exam schedule is now available. Please click here to access the schedule. Students are expected to attend all final exams during the scheduled time slot. If a student is ill on the day of an exam, the student and/or parent should contact the relevant teacher and the Academic Dean prior to the start of the exam. Please contact Kristin Brown with any questions about the final exam schedule. 

    


SAT Prep Course This Summer

From August 6-17, The Princeton Review will offer a two-week intensive course on Pingree's campus from August 6 - August 17 to prepare students for the October SAT. Summer College Essay Workshop

The new North Shore Summer School is offering a college essay workshop beginning at the end of June. This course meets in the evenings at Pingree School on Tuesdays from June 26 to July 31. The course will be taught by Denise Frame Harlan, an adjunct professor at Gordon College. Students will leave the six-week workshop with at least one final draft of a college essay and will be equipped with skills and strategies for completing other college essays on their own. Save the Date for 2012 Golf Tournament 

Please save the date for our 2012 James C. Deveney Golf Classic, to be held Monday, October 1 at Myopia Hunt Club. Online registration opens June 20.

 

Of Community Interest: 2012 Habitat for Humanity Home Builders Blitz

During the week of June 4-8, Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity will complete two homes on Market Street in Lawrence. Two-thirds of the cost will be covered by donations of labor and materials from several local builders. Many other local companies have stepped up by donating food, supplies and their time to this wonderful cause. Sponsorship opportunities are still available for donating materials, labor, or cash to help bring hope and homes to the 22 communities served. Non-construction volunteers over the age of 16 are also needed for four-hour shifts Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8. Shift hours are 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. No construction experience is needed. Jobs include serving and setting up meals, helping with registration, serving as a parking attendant, and being a runner.
