Applicant Checklist

Please use the list below to organize your application. A complete application consists of five components: a family visit with a Pingree admission officer, standardized test scores, two recommendations, an official transcript and a student application form.

Family Visit

Standardized Tests
Eighth Graders Only: Pingree Scholars Test.
The Pingree Scholars test serves as an optional entrance exam, in lieu of the SSAT, for all incoming ninth graders. Two applicants with top test scores and outstanding academic and personal accomplishment will be awarded merit scholarships. The test dates are December 4 and January 8.

All Other Applicants: SSAT Test
Pingree accepts the SSAT Test. Registration forms are available through the Admission Office.

Recommendations
Give your English and math teachers the recommendation forms with stamped envelopes addressed to the Admission Office. Give teachers at least one month to complete the recommendations.

Transcript
Give the enclosed Transcript Request Sheet to your school registrar or guidance counselor. Be sure to have a parent sign the sheet.

Student Application and Parent Questionnaire
Complete the forms and write essays on one of the topics listed and complete the short essay.

Graded Work
Submit one piece of graded work from a current English or history class.

You may send pieces of your application as they are completed. The Admission Office will collect your materials in a file.  Download the application.

All applicants whose applications are completed by the January 15 deadline will be notified of the decisions of the Admission Committee on March 10. We welcome applications throughout the spring and summer to fill spaces as they arise.
