Pingree Dean of Students and Varsity Hockey Coach Buddy Taft received a lifetime achievement award from The Salem News and Moynihan Lumber on June 12 at a luncheon at the Salem Country Club.
As Director of Athletics Alan McCoy says, "Buddy's stewardship of the Pingree hockey program has been one of the real strengths of our athletics program. He is a talented coach and teacher of the game. He cares about all of his players, not simply as hockey players but as student -athletes and as citizens of the larger community. He is held in high regard by his peers in the prep hockey coaching ranks and his positive influence on the young men who have played for him over the past three decades has been remarkable. Pingree has been fortunate to have Buddy at the helm for all these years."
Gino Khachadourian, who will take over as head coach adds, "Having worked with Buddy for the last 15 years, he is a true gentleman to the game, and one of the most respected and liked coaches throughout our league.
Taft, a graduate of Wesleyan University, has taught and coached at Pingree since 1979.
Congratulations, Buddy!
