"At Pingree it was an honor to be on the varsity basketball
team. That experience propelled me through my college process and solidified my
place at Colby-Sawyer. That’s also true of academics. Before I came to Pingree
School, I was in a public charter school in DC, which didn’t really have the
adequate books or staff. I was hindered as to what I could do and how far I
could go. Here at Pingree, I feel that the sky’s the limit. Pingree will always
to be the place I consider to be the basis for any future success I have. I
love how Pingree isn’t just a school for the arts or academics or athletics,
but a trifecta of the three. Before I came here, I was just a basketball player.
I was not an artist in any way, shape or form. Pingree has helped to me to
explore what I can do and release and attack the potential inside me. Pingree
doesn’t make it hard to be an athlete-artist or athlete-A student. We love all
three equally."

"Pingree has really come to be my second home.
I spend just as much time here as at my actual house. I love being here,
watching sports teams, talking to teachers, being with friends, eating lunch
outside. I’ve definitely found teachers that through their passion for what
they are teaching made me become interested. They bring so much energy and
enthusiasm to their topics."

"At Pingree we are made so much aware of what
goes on in the world outside our small towns, so we gain perspective and
insight on how to help our communities and the world. Pingree has allowed me to
become more involved in the arts and therefore establish a strong passion that
influenced me to focus on acting in college."

"I’m the third of three brothers to attend Pingree. One of
the things I’ve always thought was great is that you’re required to do afternoon
activities which forces people to get out of their comfort zones. I think a lot
of people have made friends with people they would not have met if they weren’t
with them in afternoon activities. The dedication and passion of the music
teachers helped me move in a direction that allowed me to see music in such a
different way. I knew a long time ago that I wanted to do music, but having
these teachers put me in a new direction; instead of just a hobby, it’s become
a passion for me that I’m going to do for the rest of my life."

"I’m a huge fan of the small community at Pingree. I feel as
though because the classes are so small you are able to create a personal
connection with the teachers and other students. The support and encouragement
of teachers have helped me succeed in many of my goals. Thanks to Pingree
encouraging students to go out and help others, I’ve been able to volunteer for
activities such as the Special Olympics soccer trials held at Pingree each
fall."

"Pingree is such an all-around school. I do cross-country, I
play basketball and I’m on the varsity tennis team. I also do drawing, painting
and sculpture with Mr. Erickson who has absolutely changed my entire outlook on
art. It’s great that I can do sports, arts and academics. I love the variety
that is available to me"

"Attending Pingree has been one of
the best decisions that I ever made.
I fell in love with Pingree because of my ability to balance both
academics with arts and athletics. Being dyslexic, Pingree offered me the
support academically to grow as a person and to succeed in all my classes.
Also, I have been able to participate in 12 seasons of athletics at Pingree.
The ability to participate in all of my activities has allowed me to find a
passion in athletics and which I will continue in college. Not only have I been able to take part in
athletics, but Pingree allowed me to participate in the arts with music. The
ability to balance all these activities allows for students to be well rounded
in all different aspects of Pingree."

"I really like that Pingree has a place for people that are
interested in pursuing arts, athletics AND academics. The school is very
responsive to the needs of the students. For example, when I came to Pingree, I
was a bit worried about the math curriculum, but they structured an independent
course of study for two of us so that we’d be challenged. I think the
student/faculty relationship is very important at Pingree. The teachers are not
only the figureheads at the front of the classroom, but also people you can
talk to about any concerns or triumphs in your life"
Max Goldstein ’13

"Pingree is a place where someone involved in
athletics is exposed to the arts and vice versa. I was always into athletics,
but I’m taking dance next year and I would have never pictured myself doing
that. I probably wouldn’t do at any other school. The bond that’s formed
between faculty and students is definitely stronger than at other schools and
it makes it easier to try new things."

Calvin Gonzalez ’13

"Coming here has taught me to be a lot more
independent. I’ve learned to balance sports and homework and I have the opportunity
to take classes such as Dance, Body and Mind – a course that isn’t available at
most other schools. The advisory system at Pingree is awesome. I don’t think
I’d be able to focus on all my classes and sports without the help of my
adviser. Advisers are really supportive and know what they are talking about
when they give us advice."

"I feel like Pingree is a home to so many
people. The faculty and staff are so supportive and the kids who attend are dedicated,
hard-working individuals who are not afraid to express themselves and develop
their own character in a supportive environment. And the building is really
pretty too. It’s a gorgeous school."

"Pingree gave me the confidence to do things – like going
abroad after sophomore year when I went to Barcelona and stayed with a family.
Pingree gave me the confidence to speak out, to do things that I love and not
worry about what everyone else was doing or what I should be doing. Also, the
teacher connections were really great. I don’t think that’s something that
other schools get to have. The relationships with teachers helped me to grow
academically. Knowing you have teachers’ support makes you really motivated to
do well. You want to give teachers something that’s worthy for them to read."

Olivia Miller ’12

"It’s such a different atmosphere from what I think is
typical of a high school. I’m very close to the teachers here. It’s a relaxed
but challenging atmosphere. You get a lot of personal connections with the
teachers and you know everyone. Pingree feels like a second home to me"

"I love the sense of humor in the Pingree community. No
matter what we are doing, we love to laugh and to joke. Moreover, Pingree gave
me a wider view of the world and that the world continues beyond our small
towns. My four years at Pingree gave me a better sense of self, determination
and direction in my life."

Brandon Parker ’11

Amesbury Middle School
"Pingree is a welcoming environment where you are allowed to
express yourself without feeling pressured in any way. You’re free to try new
things without other people judging you. I play football and basketball, but I
also do ceramics and sculpture. Whatever you are involved with, people from the
entire school will encourage you and cheer you on."

"The teachers at Pingree are very supportive. They encourage
you to do what is best for you and they help you balance the workload among
academics, sports and arts. Students and teachers all support each other and
care for each other"
